Greenhouse - Blue eyes
IDA presents "Greenhouse - Blue eyes", a solo show commissioned by The Hoxton Paris and Bombay Sapphire, featuring Amandine Guruceaga.
This work will be exhibited during Paris+ Art Basel 2024, from 15 to 27 October, and will invite visitors to plunge into an original artistic universe in the heart of Paris.
The immersive work ‘Greenhouse - Blue eyes’ has been specially designed for The Hoxton. The sculptures, inspired by the exuberance of indoor gardens and the organic, perennial forms of exotic plants, interact with the natural light streaming through the glass roof, evoking the atmosphere of a greenhouse.
On entering the space, visitors find themselves in a strange exotic garden. The works play with transparency and explore fluid, generous forms that evoke the continuous growth and transformation of nature.
Amandine Guruceaga, whose work has already been exhibited at venues including the Villa Arson, the LVMH collection, La Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille, La Samaritaine, and the Musée d'art contemporain in Montélimar, explores the themes of the fragility of the world and the resonance of history. Through her processes, she transforms materials such as textiles and metal to reveal their intrinsic reactions and their historical and cultural dimensions.
For this exhibition, Amandine Guruceaga has created bespoke sculptures, using sewing and dyeing to push back the boundaries between art and public space.
Amandine Guruceaga explains: ‘By hanging these works, I seek to intensify this dialogue between my art and the space, letting the vibrant shapes and colours of my sculptures melt into the lush, ubiquitous vegetation.’
The curation and coordination of the collaboration were entrusted to IDA, an agency specialising in the creation of artistic experiences.
Florence Marmiesse, co-founder of IDA, explains: ‘We wanted Amandine to bring her unique vision to bear on the site. Her work offers visitors a journey into a fantastic space, revealing a new artistic perspective.’
The ‘Greenhouse - Blue eyes’ exhibition will transform the lobby into an ephemeral gallery, offering visitors and customers a unique visual and sensory experience.
Lucille Beziers, Brand Manager, The Hoxton: ‘Bombay Sapphire supports the contemporary art scene, with ART IN THE LOBBY, which allows The Hoxton Paris to invite Amandine Guruceaga for an immersive art installation. The experience will be complemented by innovative gin cocktails inspired by the artist and prepared by The Hoxton's bartenders.’
The ‘Greenhouse - Blue eyes’ installation can be seen from 15 to 27 October 2024 in the lobby of The Hoxton Paris hotel.

Born in Toulouse in 1989 and based in Marseille.
Her work explores the themes of the fragility of the world and the resonance of history, while highlighting the resilience of living things in the face of human impact. Her art, deeply influenced by her experience in her family's enamelling workshop, is characterised by the use of diverse techniques such as dyeing, decolouring, brazing and engraving. Through these processes, she metamorphoses materials such as textiles and metal to reveal their intrinsic reactions and their historical and cultural dimensions.
Guruceaga sees the surface as a space for dialogue between painting and sculpture, where artistic boundaries are constantly redefined.
Amandine Guruceaga has exhibited her work in prestigious galleries and institutions throughout Europe. She has been selected for renowned residencies, such as the LVMH Métiers d'Art residency in 2018, where she presented her solo show ‘Colour Sparks’ in Paris. More recently, she curated a solo show, ‘Healing Surfaces’, at Julie Caredda Gallery during Paris+ Art Basel 2023. Her work has also been shown in venues such as the Musée d'art contemporain de Montélimar, the Villa Arson in Nice, and La Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille. She has been nominated for prizes such as the MAIF Prize for Sculpture, the Emerige Revelations Prize and the Salon de Montrouge.
